Most of us have grown jaded to the lovely gamy - res video that drones deliver these day , which is so omnipresent that it ’s being used torecruit pledges to Greek life . Here ’s something to restore your signified of wonderment .
A British photographer namedJamie Brightmoreisdeveloping a new techniquecalledSatlapseto shoot timelapse footage that , at first glance , seems to be taken from a planet in orbit . In fact , Brightmore used a drone ( a DJI Phantom 2 ) hovering about 400 feet above the subject , snapping hundreds of still shot ( using a GoPro Hero 4 ) over about ten minutes and matching them to produce each picture .
A new video point the results of his experiments , which really do expect like fantastically high - res artificial satellite imagery :

The resolution of satellite imaging is getting incredibly delicately - grained — just a couple of month ago , we got to witnessthe first HD video shot from cranial orbit . But despite the exponential increase in our imaging technical school , it still ca n’t beat a compulsive photographer equipped with a quadcopter .
