A ransomware crowd , Babuk Locker , has been attempting to extort the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington D.C. for $ 4 million , but negotiations between the bull and the outlaw latterly crumple , leaked documents appear to show .
Several weeks ago , the cybercriminal groupannounced that it had stolenthe MPD ’s data — some 250 GB that include 1000 of pages of sore home documents , including disciplinary file on officers , and intelligence on local mob activity and witness computer programme . The law section later confirmed that it had been chop .
Since then , Babuk has been attempting to rack the agency , threatening to leak out sensitive internal documents if cops did not yield them . About two weeks ago , the crew leaked a limited amount of data to the web , release personnel files on a choice number of current or former MPD officer .

On Tuesday , an apparent communication breakdown between both group resulted in a much larger tranche of the MPD ’s data point being leaked to the web , a 22.7 GB file .

PD : Our marriage proposal is an offer to compensate $ 100,000 to forbid the loss of the steal data point . If this offering is not satisfactory , then it seems our conversation is complete . I think we both understand the aftermath of not reach an agreement . We are okay with that outcome .
