There are good cleanup lady and there are bad cleaning noblewoman . big cleaning gentlewoman ? You want to avoid . right cleansing ladies ? They sometimes do unsound thing by being too right . Like the cleaning lady who cleaned a “ dirty ” prowess piece on accident .
The carving in question , When It Starts Dripping From The Ceiling , was made by German creative person Martin Kippenberger . It ’s a tower of wooden spline with a trough at the foot of the sculpture . Inside that trough , Kippenberger ( who go in 1997 ) had distribute a layer of key to mime a dried rain pool . People loved it . People loved Kippenberger . People valued the piece to be worth $ 1.1 million .
Not any longer though . When the cleanup dame saw that the trough with the faux rain puddle , she did like any good cleaning lady would — she cleaned it . She scratch the patina off the walls of the trough to the point where it ’s sparkling new , accidentally stripping away the ‘ art ’ of it . whoop ! The Ostwall Museum in Berlin , Germany is n’t certain what to do with the man yet but it remains on display for the time being [ Guardian UK ]
