Amadou Bagayoko and Mariam Doumbia are the couple that make up Amadou & Mariam , an afro - Amytal radical from Mali . The pair has been performing for tenner and have released seven albums , including last yr ’s Folila , along with a number of compiling . Both musician are blind and they are sometimes call “ the unreasoning couple from Mali , ” which is sort of more informational than it is a nickname .
I first started listen to Amadou & Mariam in 2000 when they issue Tje Ni Mousso , and my favourite track from that album is still Si Ni Kan. Most of Amadou & Mariam ’s music is in Bambara , the national language of Mali , but they also tattle in French or occasionally in English , Spanish , or another Malian nomenclature . I have n’t looked into the substance of their language because it ’s so easy to appreciate the regular recurrence and various instrumentality in their euphony anyway , but it would be nerveless to have it off what some of these tracks are about .
