In response to Monday’snews that Apple had pulled 39 of its computers from EPEAT‘s green credential , Apple spokesperson Kristin Huguet todayreleased the following statement to The Loop :

“ Apple choose a comprehensive approaching to measure our environmental impact and all of our products encounter the strictest energy efficiency standards back by the US governing , Energy Star 5.2 . We also take the industry by report each product ’s nursery gas emissions on our web site , and Apple products are higher-ranking in other important environmental area not value by EPEAT , such as remotion of toxic materials . ”
On the one handwriting , EPEAT ’s certifications are previous and outmodedand do not apply to the full mountain chain of Apple ’s ware ( EPEAT does not manifest smartphones or tablets)—on the other hand , because Apple is in the business of selling computers , this statement still does n’t seem to convert anything .
