Having conquered reverse age with The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button , screenwriter Eric Roth is drive for something larger with his next project – A blank opera that crosses George Lucas and Arthur C. Clarke .
Talking to Collider.com , Roth – who also wrote the screenplay for Forrest Gump and Munich , amongst others – break that the big undertaking that he wants to follow up Benjamin Button with is what he holler “ a braggy outer space … I do n’t require to say odyssey … that ’s been done , but a space movie ” :
I want it to be — and I do n’t make love 100%—but I mean this is such a wide-eyed range , but I think it ’s somewhere between the tidings of “ 2001 ” and the mythology of “ Star Wars ” , so I do n’t know where that lead you . But I do n’t want to make it so noetic that it ’s fuddle , but on the other hand I ’m not so certain I can write the variety of wonderful fantasy that Lucas does , so maybe it would have … I do n’t jazz … I do n’t know . I ca n’t answer that because they ’re going allow me just sort of say fade in and see where I go .

While it ’s good to be challenging , there ’s something worrying about Roth ’s seeming uncertainness about this particular ambitiousness – rather of the young Star Wars , is his feeling that he ca n’t spell Lucas - esque fantasy go bad to give us the new Phantom Menace ?
