TheNew Yorker reportsChinese paper Southern Daily claim they’veseen surveillance footageof Sun Danyong ’s inquiry by Foxconn , which show that he was n’t locked up or tortured . Italso saysthat Sun told Foxconn to search his house .
The latter report is the more interesting of the two , for the glance it gives into Foxconn ’s collective culture : When Foxconn protection handler Gu Qinming interviewed Sun , he says that Sun ab initio charge the missing phone on a female colleague , provoking Gu to poke him in the shoulder and necessitate , “ Are you a man ? ”
agree to Gu , it was Sun who evoke that Foxconn search his house , to prove his whiteness . Which almost sound reasonable , insofar as Gu thought Sun was both incompetent and a prevaricator — what else could Sun have done ?

Yet , Sun was quoted as sayingon a Chinese message board , “ Even at a police station , the law says forcefulness must never be used , much less in a bodied situation . I was just a suspect , my dear header of security , so what reason and right hand do you have to confine me and practice force ? ”
