The Gadget : DellStudio Hybrid . An HDMI - fit out little PC , with 2.16Ghz processor , 2 GB of RAM , 250 GB hard drive and inner Blu - ray driving force .
The Leontyne Price : $ 949 as configure .
Form Factor

The Studio Hybrid is small , no doubt about it . A little heftier than a Wii , its color fall from a removable outer case that , in person , is far more see-through than the advertising art would have you believe . You ca n’t really make out the colour unless you ’re looking for it . In our cabinet , we ’d ditch that sleeve to make the eccentric even small . ( Dell confirm that the personal computer can black market just fine on its side , too . )
World Wide Web Browsing
It was a delight , really . I used the bundled wireless laser mouse right on my couch . And the keyboard is light and comfortable .

goggle box
While internet browse , in another windowpane , I catch NBC over my HD antenna with a USB coax cable adaptor . The calculator could deal the task fine , though when you change channels , it was n’t quite as smooth as your HD box would be . But the braggart problem I had - one that is not specifically Dell ’s fault - is that the entire desktop did n’t make it to my television ( the edges were turn out off a piece , a common trouble for TVs display electronic computer content ) . This is something to keep in mind before buying a media PC to practice on your television ( buy with a skillful restoration policy ) , and it was n’t ideal for TV .
Blu - ray of light

Dell ’s integrated Blu - ray private road … really is n’t too moth-eaten . Even on my 720p test display , I ’d have to say my PS3 is rendering image with less noise and more color - Dell ’s integrated Blu - ray actor admonish that it does n’t affirm the full Windows colouration space - but loading clock time were reasonable , picture timber was passable and , let ’s just say it shape well than original DVD drives did in PCs … though not by a lot . Still , the large downfalls are Dell ’s lackluster mix control and when dissolute forwarding you understand that the scheme does have its limit ( one fourth dimension our screen finish previewing the video altogether until we make gambling again ) .
Verdict
Most will say the Studio Hybrid is overprice . I ’m not certain if that ’s the pillowcase . While the system set forth at $ 500 and the social unit I tested - one that I ’m really reasonably proud of with - ballooned to $ 1000 , the PC is pieced together from mostly laptop computer parting so you ’ll pay a laptop price . That ’s the price of the configuration factor , and an inauspicious realism of the media PC marketplace as it stand today ( you ’ll crush the Studio Hybrid ’s operation for the clam , but it ’ll face like there ’s a figurer baby-sit next to your TV ) .

Still , $ 1000 is a tidy sum to ask for a computing machine using merged nontextual matter .
All the same , I ’d argue that the Hybrid ’s defect is n’t its potentially high price , but its mark grocery store . The reckoner is assay to be a oecumenical intention system when Dell should have plainly tricked out its medium middle capability to their max , or at least appropriate such an alternative . Integrate the digital tuner instead of make me stick dongle out the back and give me a remote to control everything from Blu - ray to Hulu , and I ’m sold without check the sticker damage .
But until then , I ’d say the Studio Hybrid is just alright - not quite the media microcomputer for everyone I ’d hoped it would be . ( You ca n’t twist it on from your couch , you roll in the hay ? ) The expectation of web browsing and BitTorrent ca n’t draw me away from watching culture medium on my PS3 or Xbox 360 , and my stock DVR will probably do by TV recording with a lot less hassle .

Then again , if Dell ever makes a Studio Hybrid 2 , I ’ll be unquiet to see the improvements . [ Dell ]
