Thebrushed - Al light-emitting diode - lit C9000is not just the handsomest thin telly at the show , it comes with the most innovative Wi - Fi remote control — one that looks suspiciously like an iPhone and feels suspiciously like a Samsung headphone .

Why a Wi - Fi television remote ? So you may watch a Blu - ray of light on your idiot box while check out the game in your hand , of course of study . perchance you ’ve never had that job , exactly , but this product seems like a step in a raw focus , rather than just a “ we did it because we could ” kind of affair .

The remote connect over your Wi - Fi web to check the idiot box ( also on the Wi - Fi web ) , much like iTunes Remote crop on an iPhone . The screen is vivacious and high - contrast , though it is LCD , not OLED . As you tapdance buttons on the cover ( which I trust is resistive , since Samsung would n’t confirm capacitive ) you feel a little vibe , haptic feedback that is now plebeian on phones from Samsung and LG . I bid the remote itself feel a small more tough ; there was a falseness to it that make me occupy about it sliding off the deep brown table . Still , I was impressed by its simple frame-up and lithe handling . It ’s like they finally found a ripe matter to do with all of those feature - earpiece interfaces nobody involve anymore .

What do you do with it ? As you browse channels , it ’s actually using the TV ’s own piano tuner to generate TV , which it downgrades and sends to the remote control in more - or - less realtime . If you like something , you just tap a control and its on the expectant screen . If you want to tap into a DLNA server on your internet , you ’ll see it and all its bounty . Samsung would n’t confirm what kind of file cabinet it would decode , but did say that they would underpin 1080p resolution on video files .

The only problem with the remote control is it ’s something that could be replaced by an iPhone app in about 12 seconds .

All of this , and I still have n’t cause to the TV . Sure , slim TVs are kinda old hat by now , but I really wish this one , because it has all of its interface engineering built into the base , not some ugly outboard motor define - top box . Want to wall mount it or else ? The base pops off , and attaches to the back of the TV , making it slightly thicker , sure , but not by much , especially so close-fitting to a wall .

There ’s no price on this baby yet , but since it ’s distinctly a vanity undertaking — and it natively supports 3D , like most primo tv at CES this year — you know they ’re perish to sell it to the celebs and high rollers first .
