In my recap of thefirst two episodes of HawkeyeI mentioned at one tip I pay back misty eyed . Well , it was in the show ’s very first view which , fundamentally , had the biggest pillager to find in both episodes . The opening scene of Hawkeye takes place in New York City circa 2012 . Kate is frozen like a cervid in headlights until an pointer kills the alien . An pointer from none other than Hawkeye himself . As he sweep down from the construction , you instantly understand why this fibre wants to be a hero , and why Hawkeye is her favorite Avenger . Which , according to Tran , was exactly the response they were move for .
“ We want to reckon out a pivotal moment that made sensation for Kate to enter the MCU , specially through her eyes ” Tran told io9 via video Old World chat . “ Out of all of the moments , the most memorable one is conflict of New York and we were attempt to figure out , obviously , her old age and how it fits within that time frame , as well as the experience and the outcome and everything . And battle of New York was just the everlasting time [ especially ] because of [ Hawkeye ’s ] iconic shot when he does that flip . I mean , I remember it to this day the first time I watched it . ”

[ Note : To be fair , in the show the pointer that saves Kate happens right on before the startle and in the clip above you clearly see that did n’t happen . Thankfully , it ’s a moving-picture show and he fire a lot of arrow so we set aside mental rejection a bit . ]
So they had a moment linking a young Kate to Hawkeye that everyone would agnise . Now , it had to be leaf . “ We wanted to figure how do we get Kate ’s perspective on it ? ” Tran keep on . “ How does she see something like this that forever change who she thinks she want to become and start training in archery and need to learn and do what she does ? So that moment just made utter sentience in term of how it fits within Kate ’s chronicle in terms of the timeline , and in terms of how erstwhile she is in the present day as well , too . And like I said , the lens through her and her perspective pushing her to want to instruct archery is that moment that I think everybody really remembers from the first Avengers . ”
And because Marvel was connect back to one of its own movies , the process was n’t as hard as one might think . “ The footage is really from he first Avengers moving picture , so it was really going through and envision out what moments we have n’t seen yet and how we can pull out that into the humankind of Kate and create it from her linear perspective , ” Tran said . “ And and some of them were obviously CG shots that we had make in this particular series as well . But most significantly , all of our plot line and all of our series are link and this was our way into the MCU . ”
One that fit so perfectly , and bug that venous blood vessel of of nostalgia so poignantly , it made me a little emotional . The first two episode of Hawkeye are now on Disney+ .
