Oscar Niemeyer , the famed Brazilian architect who created some of the world ’s most famous modernist buildings , has passed away at the age of 104 . In his lifespan , he became one of Modernism ’s most celebrate architects and through his genius , Niemeyer was able to bless the globe with delectably well-endowed shapes . Just take a look at some of his work .
Niemeyer passed at the Hospital Samaritano in Rio de Janeiro due to a respiratory contagion . Recently , he ’s been in the hospital for other malady such as kidney problem , pneumonia and desiccation . But his oeuvre exist on . He did n’t just create building , he birthed a country ’s dash . He ’s famous for saying :
I am not attract to uncoiled angles or to the straightforward blood , hard and inflexible , created by valet de chambre . I am attracted to free - flow , sensual curves . The breaking ball that I find out in the mountain of my country , in the sinuousness of its rivers , in the waves of the sea , and on the body of the beloved cleaning woman . curve make up the intact existence , the curved cosmos of Einstein .
