A chilling new drama is headed to television and it’ll be shining a light on the more than 600,000 people of color who go missing in America each year.

NBC’s new original seriesFoundfollows a fictionalized version of these harrowing events — and one woman who has committed her life to bringing the missing home. When the rest of the world forgets their stories, Gabi Mosely (Shameless’Shanola Hampton) does not.

It might be because she’s passionate about speaking for unheard voices. Or it may be because she’s a kidnapping survivor herself — with a heavy secret she won’t give up willingly.

“I have to ask, does it haunt you that your kidnapper was never found?” Mosely, who is now a Missing Person’s Crisis Manager, is asked on the news. She shakes her head and confidently responds, “Haunt? No.”

As passionate as Mosely may be about her job, it seems she’s not acting on her instincts with the aid of police. Instead, she’s crossing crime scene lines, planting hidden cameras, and solving cases on her own.

It makes an enemy of law enforcement who question how she “figured out” a case before they could.

Mosely isn’t afraid to throw a punch or two, saying, “We all have our secrets.”

Then, her biggest secret is revealed: her kidnapper is nowhervictim, living chained in her basement and solving her most serious crimes.

“Where would you have taken her?” Mosely asks her previous captor, sliding Sir a file folder and cup of water.

“The ones that no one else seems to be looking for. We find them, and we return them safely,” she says of her goal, later adding, “I won’t let what you did to me be for nothing. Whatever it takes.”

Though the ultimate mission is a safe return for the missing people, there’s a shortage of peace in Mosely’s approach — from chains and baseball bats, to a possible friendship with the man who took her childhood away from her.

“I tell you what to help with and you help with it,” Mosely tells Sir, who quips back, “Quite the partnership.”

She clarifies, “We’re not partners, you’re a monster,” and he responds, “You think you’re not like me? You are so self-righteous … you kidnapped a man.”

As their battle for control goes back and forth, the trailer ends with Mosely making a chilling realization. “You want to be here, don’t you?” she asks Sir.

“Remove the chain and find out,” Sir dares her.
